BCCK EMBRACES THE SPIRIT OF GIVING THIS CHRISTMAS SEASON
The Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) continues to embrace the spirit of giving this Christmas season, gifting 152 pairs of school shoes to the children in the Salvation Army Children’s Home and the Salvation Army Boys Home earlier today.
Each of the 76 children received two pairs of school shoes and three pairs of black socks, for their use during the 2022 school year.
“Usually, we look forward to inviting the children over at The Raintree Restaurant for Christmas, with a warm meal and gifts surrounded by our Christmas decorations for a festive mood. We weren’t able to do that again this year, for the children’s safety, so we decided to bring our gifts to them instead,” said Eric Van Piggelen, Chief Executive Officer of BCCK.
“We hope the school shoes and socks will serve them well in the upcoming school year, and we wish them the best in their studies and the pursuit of their dreams,” he said.
The children at the Salvation Army Children’s Home also received a specially packed Christmas meal from BCCK.
ISTHMUS CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING CEREMONY
The Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) hosted their 9th annual Isthmus Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on 6th December 2019 to usher in the festive holiday season and give back to the local community.
A group of 83 young children from The Salvation Army Kuching Children’s home and Boy’s Home together with their wardens, as well as 35 special-needs working adults from Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) were invited to attend the ceremony. Members of CBR enjoyed a session of Christmas cupcake decorations before the event.
BCCK has a long history of charity in the Kuching community and has contributed to local CSR causes, partners and charities since 2009 since it first opened its doors.
The Salvation Army Children’s Choir then performed their Christmas Carols, ushering in the Christmas cheer and festive spirit for the month of December, followed by the lighting of the Christmas Trees to mark the beginning of the festive holiday season, followed by a performance by the BCCK staff.
