The initiative, themed “Love Is in the Hair – Bringing Comfort, Confidence & Cheer,” focused on simple yet heartfelt acts of care. Stylists from Artist Hairdressing generously volunteered their time to provide complimentary haircuts, helping residents feel groomed, confident, and valued.
“Every smile, every laugh, every little moment of attention matters,” said Sister Flora, matron at Home of Peace. “It reminds us that the elderly are never forgotten, and that the smallest gestures can make a big difference in their lives.”
BCCK also contributed essential items to support the Home’s daily needs, complementing the warm Christmas lunch prepared by its team. Throughout the visit, laughter, conversations, and shared stories filled the air, quiet yet powerful reminders of the gift of human connection.
Reflecting on the experience, BCCK Chief Operating Officer Mr. Rayner Simon said:
“This initiative reminded us that even the simplest acts, a conversation, a meal, or a haircut can brighten lives. We hope more people will come forward to visit, volunteer, or contribute to Home of Peace, because every gesture of kindness counts.”
In the spirit of giving, BCCK and its partners echoed the words of St. Francis of Assisi: “It is in giving that we receive.”
Home of Peace will be celebrating its Christmas on 20 December 2025, and the public is warmly invited to participate, contribute, and share in the joy of the season. Donations and contributions can be made to the Catholic Welfare Services Council Sarawak, or by contacting 014 3942425, or visiting them at Lot 183, Jalan Landeh, Kota Padawan, 93250 Kuching, Sarawak.
Through initiatives like this, BCCK hopes to inspire more people to connect with the Home and help make every day a little brighter for its residents, because comfort, confidence, and cheer can be shared in the simplest ways.
