KUCHING, (5th October 2023) – The Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) is thrilled to announce that Muhd Luqmanul Hakim, a Research Officer in the Sales & Marketing Department, has been named as the Researcher of the Month for August by the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA).

The ICCA Researcher of the Month distinction is awarded based on the quality of updates contributed to ICCA's database. BCCK has a rich history of team members achieving recognition as Researchers of the Month and Researchers of the Year. This year, Luqmanul's outstanding contributions mark him as the 11th Malaysian (five from convention bureaus and six from venues) to receive the title.

Throughout BCCK's journey, the Centre has earned three previous titles for Researcher of the Month and one for Researcher of the Year. Luqmanul's dedicated research efforts in the field of business events have been instrumental in helping the sales & marketing team securing a remarkable total of 19 international conferences and events for this year alone, in addition to identifying 40 potential business leads up to the year 2028. These events have generated an estimated economic impact of approximately RM26 million for Sarawak and Malaysia. His meticulous research process has played a vital role in achieving this success.

"We are deeply honoured that our Research Officer is being recognised not only for his invaluable contributions to our Centre but also for his significant impact on the global and local business events industry who have access to the ICCA database on meetings and conventions," said Eric van Piggelen, CEO of BCCK. "We look forward to witnessing his ongoing success and contributions to the business events industry."

ICCA has been acknowledging outstanding researchers since 2012, fostering a culture of information-sharing among ICCA members and researchers. This collaborative effort strengthens the international business events industry and its community.

"I am delighted to extend my congratulations to Luqmanul for his unwavering dedication to his research. We are excited to leverage the invaluable insights his research has provided to continue positioning BCCK at the forefront of Business Events in the region and beyond," remarked Premala Danapakiam, Director of Sales & Marketing.

Luqmanul emphasised the significance of contributing accurate data to the ICCA database, with a particular focus on the frequency of updates. He recognised that while gathering precise information demands effort and time, it ultimately simplifies processes for all ICCA members.

ICCA stands as the global leader in the international business events industry, specialising in the international association meetings sector.
