Kuching: During the Holy month of Ramadan, we seize every opportunity to be extra charitable, especially to the poor and needy and more so to unfortunate children. Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) extended a warm welcome to 85 children aged between 3 to 18 years old from Rumah Kanak-Kanak Batu 12 for a breaking-of-fast ceremony together with the Chief Minister YAB Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Johari Tun Openg and his wife Datin Patinggi Dato Hajjah Juma’ani on Tuesday.

The buka puasa treat was followed by Maghrib prayers and the congregation was then proceeded with dinner and presentation of “duit raya” by Chief Minister to all the children, in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah, State Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth, BCCK board of directors and senior management staff.

In Ramadhan, reaching out to the under-privilege society is an annual activity close to the heart of BCCK board of directors, senior management and staff. “It is not just a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity, it is about spending quality-time with the children and to bring smiles on their faces”, said Eric Van Piggelen, CEO of BCCK.

BCCK has long standing relationships with various charitable bodies and reaching out to the less fortunate on special occasions and ordinary days is part and parcel of their commitment to their CSR initiative.

During this Ramadhan, we have also launched the book donation campaign. Public are invited to join us in this campaign as to donate new or used story, educational and inspirational books as well as kid’s magazines for the Rumah Kanak-Kanak Batu 12. The donation box is located at BCCK, level 2.
